YUGUANG ISLAND ART FESTIVAL 2021

Created in collaboration with the Students of Yizai Elementary School, Yuguang Campus

The Yuguang Island Art Festival invites 13 artists to transform the environment and fashion a space for healing. The artists were chosen through a publicly held competition by the government of Tainan.

Each elementary school student was asked to combine the various shapes to establish their ideal nation based on their individual values. Issues of nationality are fragile in taiwan, therefore language and symbolism were carefully crafted to incorporate natural elements and colors of the area. The abstract symbols were designed to correspond to Yuguang Island’s natural elements: the sun, the stars, the moon, and the waves.mThe flags decorate the passage that leads to Yuguang Island to welcome visitors the the art festival.
